Inpatient Coder - RHIT Required

Job Description

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Inpatient Coder - RHIT Required will analyze and code diagnostic and procedural information from medical records to ensure accurate billing and compliance with established guidelines. Key responsibilities Thoroughly review patient medical records to identify diagnostic and operative procedures for database compilation Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using encoder software in accordance with coding principles and guidelines Complete discharge abstracts by gathering and coding pertinent patient stay data while ensuring the accuracy of the electronic medical record Required qualifications Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Administrator (RHIA), CCS Certified Coding Specialist, or CCA Certified Coding Associate Degree in Medical Record Sciences preferred or completion of a relevant certification program Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems Prior coding experience preferred but not required Certification eligibility for RHIT or RHIA must be obtained within six months of employment
