Overview: The Outpatient Coder communicates with physicians on any documentation improvement initiatives and reports necessary trends and is also responsible for receiving adequate training in every specialty our multi-specialty group provides to be able to audit accounts accurately. This position is supporting a Level IV trauma center. Specialties include: Emergency Care, Orthopedics, Women's Services, Cardiology, Imaging & Surgery: Schedule/Shift: Schedule: Starts at 8:00 AM during training; transitions to a flexible "flex schedule" once independent. Fully Remote : Must be Based In Texas Responsibilities: Prioritizes and codes patient records, using ICD10-CM, ICD 10-PCS and CPT codes. Abstracts data from medical files and keeps required statistics. Assists with quality assurance and utilization review functions, applies appropriate modifiers. KPIs: Productivity: 4–6 charts per hour. Quality: 95% accuracy or higher. Required Skills: Strong multi-tasking, organizational skills Computer skills, knowledge of Physician EMR systems required Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy Familiarity with the revenue cycle management process Required Qualifications: 4+ years of outpatient coding experience Coding certification accredited from AAPC or AHIMA Experience with same day surgeries, injections, and observations Preferred Skills: Meditech Xpanse and 3M systems.
