Job Description

Inpatient Coder II – CommonSpirit Health Job Summary and Responsibilities As an advanced level coding position, you will code and abstract inpatient records for data retrieval, analysis, reimbursement, and research. You will code and enter diagnostic and procedure codes into a designated coding and abstracting system utilizing the 3M encoder, as appropriate. You will meet quality and productivity coding standards and navigate an EMR. You will code across all facilities. Remote Eligibility Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming Job Requirements High School Diploma/GED Required Associate's Degree Preferred Current AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC credentials (COC, CIC, CPC-H, CPC) required or must be certified within one year of hire Minimum of 4 years coding experience, preferably in an inpatient acute care setting, or minimum of 2 years and successful completion of the organization's internal coding program Demonstrate competency of inpatient coding guidelines and DRG assignment Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, email, and troubleshooting computer problems; experience working in a remote environment preferred Demonstrate intermediate to advanced technical coding competency in ICD-10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS and coding modifiers Knowledge of disease management, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems such as 3M Physical Requirements Medium work – lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
