To support accurate coding for outpatient hospital encounters, the full-time New Jersey Licensed Outpatient Coder will assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and modifiers while working remotely and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and payer policies. Key responsibilities Codes medical record documentation for various outpatient services, including Emergency Room and Same Day Surgical records Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Improvement and billing teams to optimize documentation and reimbursement Maintains compliance with medical coding policies and stays updated on outpatient coding changes Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Certified Physician Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) preferred Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Experience using an encoder and EMR systems Ability to work independently in a remote environment under pressure
