Serving as the senior member of the corporate coding team, the part-time North Carolina Licensed Senior Inpatient Coder will provide timely and accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding, DRG assignment, and medical record abstraction while collaborating with the coding and CDS teams. Key responsibilities Perform coding and DRG assignment for inpatient records to ensure accurate reimbursement and statistical reporting Review SMART accounts daily and serve as a liaison between coders and the Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) team Collect predefined indicators and abstract medical records as necessary to support coding accuracy Required qualifications Registered Health Information Technician, Registered Health Information Administrator, Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Outpatient Coder required Associate's Degree in Health Information Management required; Bachelor's Degree preferred Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience required Experience in Diagnosis-Related Group analysis required
