Working remotely, the HIM Inpatient Coder will code and abstract medical records for inpatients, determine diagnosis-related groupings, and assign ICD-10CM/PCS codes based on physician diagnoses and procedures. Key responsibilities Code and abstract medical records of inpatients following established conventions and guidelines Group codes to determine diagnosis-related groupings (DRGs-CMS and/or APR) Review medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10CM/PCS codes to diagnoses and procedures Required qualifications Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college) Knowledge of a specialized field related to medical coding Experience with ICD-10CM/PCS coding Familiarity with diagnosis-related groupings (DRGs-CMS and/or APR) Ability to follow established coding conventions and guidelines
