To support a dynamic health information management team, the full-time Texas Licensed Outpatient Coder I will review and interpret health record documentation, identify diagnoses and procedures for coding, and maintain coding proficiency while working remotely with flexible hours. Key responsibilities Reviews and interprets health record documentation to assign appropriate codes for outpatient services Maintains adequate production and abstracts relevant information from patient medical records Stays updated on coding guidelines and maintains coding proficiency through continuous education Required qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent with completion of ICD 10 and CPT Coding courses, or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology/Administration One year of experience in acute care hospital outpatient coding preferred, or no experience required with relevant degrees or certifications Certification as CCA, COC, RHIT, CPC, or RHIA is required within 12 months of hire Proof of completion of a coding program or internship is required Basic knowledge of electronic health record systems and automated coding methods is preferred
