Analyzing and interpreting complex medical records, the remote Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately assign and sequence diagnostic and procedure codes for Trauma 1 facility inpatient services, ensuring compliance with third-party payor requirements. Key responsibilities Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes for inpatient services Obtain clarification on conflicting or ambiguous documentation when necessary Ensure compliance with legal and policy directives related to coding Required qualifications At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a Trauma 1 setting RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding and DRG assignment Familiarity with various EMRs and encoders Understanding of confidentiality requirements in coding
