Job Description

To support accurate medical documentation, the full-time California Licensed Outpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from medical records for outpatient services, ensuring compliance with relevant coding guidelines while working remotely from Northern California. Key responsibilities: Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems Ensure timely and compliant coding by organizing and prioritizing work assignments according to regulatory requirements Interact with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information as needed Required qualifications: Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years High School Diploma or GED with completion of courses in medical terminology, anatomy, and current coding conventions from an accredited program Active coding credential such as Registered Health Information Technician or Certified Professional Coder Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding guidelines for outpatient services Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding accuracy
