Job Description & Requirements Remote Inpatient Coder StartDate: 8/24/2026 Pay Rate: $32.00 - $40.00 POSITION: Remote IP CDI DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management START: 8/24/26 or ASAP LOCATION: Remote JOB DESCRIPTION Under indirect supervision, is responsible for accurate coding of Inpatient accounts for an Academic Level I Trauma facility. Will code Inpatient procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. Required to work with Cerner/Clin Trac, 3M 360 CAC. All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Individual State Health Planning and Development and organizational/institutional coding guidelines. Required Skills Accurately assign and sequence ICD-10 diagnostic and ICD-10 procedure codes to inpatient records for use in reimbursement and data collection. Minimum of 5yrs IP Trauma Level I facility coding experience required. Ensure all accounts are coded correctly and promptly, which will provide an accurate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for appropriate reimbursement. Verify patient information to identify any discrepancies and ensure that all codes and any other abstracted information is applied to the appropriate patient's encounter. Assess documentation and if necessary query the physician for additional information when indicated to clarify a diagnosis, symptom, or any reason for services provided. Trauma Level I / Teaching Facility / Burn Center experience required Transplants, Rehab, Cardiovascular, Pediatrics Coding Experience Required Computer Savvy is a must and ability to work independently/follow workflow process instructions. Must have attention to detail MENTALITY. Strong and prompt email communication/etiquette. Perferred Skills Must have recent IP Coding at a Level I Trauma facility and total of 5yrs Trauma I experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS working in a Level I Trauma facility along with coding Burns. Experience coding Burns. Recent Cerner/Clin Trac/3M360 CAC experience. Works the review queue on a daily basis to ensure all charts that are placed in the review queue are worked and any corrections are communicated to the facility if necessary. Experience working with CDI. Coders must maintain their current professional credentials. Preferred Epic Experience: Abstracting charge sessions in Charge Router Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Requires one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, or RHIA/RHIT) Must be proficient with Facilities Coding Standards. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Inpatient medical coding Level I Trauma. Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS.
