To support coding operations, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely from Northern California. Key responsibilities: Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems Ensures timely and compliant coding and abstracting of records according to regulatory requirements and organizational guidelines Interacts with physicians to clarify diagnostic and procedural information, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of coded data Required qualifications: Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years High School Diploma or GED with completion of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding convention classes from an accredited program Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes relevant to inpatient coding
