To support accurate medical coding practices, the full-time California Licensed Hospital Outpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from medical records for outpatient services, working remotely while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. Key responsibilities: Review medical records to identify and code appropriate diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Ensure timely and compliant coding by organizing and prioritizing work assignments according to regulatory requirements Interact with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information as needed Required qualifications: Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and current coding conventions from an accredited program Valid coding certification such as Registered Health Information Technician or Certified Professional Coder Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes relevant to coding Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding and abstracting
