To support hospital coding operations, the full-time California Licensed Hospital Outpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract diagnoses and procedures from medical records for outpatient services, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines while working remotely. Key responsibilities: Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems Ensure timely and compliant coding by organizing and prioritizing work assignments in accordance with regulatory requirements Interact with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information as needed Required qualifications: Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, and current coding conventions from an accredited program Current certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, or equivalent Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the Hospital Outpatient Coder test Demonstrated knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to outpatient services
