Job Description

To support a top-notch healthcare company, the full-time Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will review health record documentation, assign codes and DRGs, and ensure accurate billing for inpatient records in a remote environment. Key responsibilities Reviews and interprets health record documentation to identify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures for coding Calculates correct MS-DRG, Severity of Illness, and Risk of Mortality levels according to official coding guidelines Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve coding accuracy and documentation quality Required qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a health information-related field preferred Completion or training in ICD-10 CM/PCS with a required competency of 95% accuracy Two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting required AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC) required upon hire RHIT or RHIA credentials preferred upon hire
