Job Description

Working part-time during the day with remote eligibility, the Florida Licensed Inpatient Coder will assign and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient encounters, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining accuracy in medical record documentation. Key responsibilities: Review and validate accuracy of Admission-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) data fields and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using encoder software Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to coding quality and productivity standards, submitting daily productivity reports Formulate physician queries for validation, address coding edits, and perform necessary corrections for internal audits and external denials Required qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Three (3) years of inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting or completion of the MHS coder intern program Additional credentials such as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) are preferred Focused education in hospital-based coding
