Job Description

Remote Inpatient Coder

The remote Inpatient Coder is responsible for assigning diagnosis and procedural code using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems and monitors bill hold reports. This coder will be working on Inpatient accounts, must have Inpatient Orthopedic coding experience. Responsible for coding Inpatient records assuring proper MS/APR DRG assignment for all coded records. Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder, Meditech is required. Must have a minimum 2 years recent Acute Care Inpatient coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years recent acute care hospital Inpatient Coding and abstracting experience including coding Orthopedic accounts.
  • Extensive knowledge with recent 3M and Meditech software.
  • CCS, RHIA, or RHIT Credentials required.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries
  • Must be technically savvy.

Working Hours Needed:

  • M F or weekends, 40 hours a week
  • Flexible hours during training and prebill review process
