Position Overview
The Cardiovascular Coding Xtern is an educational externship opportunity designed to provide hands-on training and real-world exposure to cardiovascular medical coding within a clinical practice setting. Under the supervision of experienced coding and revenue cycle professionals, the Xtern will learn to review clinical documentation and assist with the assignment of ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes in accordance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
This role offers practical experience in cardiology-related coding, revenue cycle processes, compliance standards, and payer guidelines. The Xtern will gain exposure to CMS, Medicare, and commercial payer policies while developing foundational skills in documentation review, coding accuracy, and denial prevention.
