To support a growing mental healthcare platform, the remote Senior Medical Coding Specialist will utilize their Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification to audit behavioral health documentation and coding for compliance, provide feedback to providers, and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts. Key responsibilities Audit behavioral health documentation and coding (ICD-10-CM and CPT) for accuracy and compliance Deliver actionable feedback to providers through 1:1 remediation meetings, educating them on coding and documentation guidelines Serve as a subject matter expert by answering coding-related questions and supporting internal teams with process improvements Required qualifications Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification and 2+ years of experience in outpatient or professional services coding within a behavioral health setting Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and documentation requirements Experience educating providers on medical decision making (MDM) for outpatient Evaluation and Management services Ability to balance supportive coaching with enforcing compliance regulations and payer standards Strong analytical and auditing skills, with a high level of attention to detail
