We are hiring Coding Specialists (certified) to support both inpatient and outpatient coding within our Health Information Management (Revenue Cycle) department. In this role, you will review medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to ensure compliance, data integrity, and appropriate reimbursement. These positions are 100% remote; however, candidates should reside within the New England region.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred.
Certifications (one of the following required, depending on specialty): CPC (AAPC), CCS-P (AHIMA), CCS (AHIMA), or CIC (AAPC). Additional HIM certifications (RHIT, RHIA) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience in a hospital or acute care setting. Experience with ICD-10-CM required. Experience with ICD-10-PCS (inpatient) and CPT/HCPCS (outpatient), as applicable. Familiarity with DRG and/or APC assignment and reimbursement methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Proficiency with Epic and coding/encoder software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations. Ability to adapt to regulatory changes and new technologies.
