Job Details - Location: On-site in Fort Worth, TX 76104 (work-from-home eligible)

- Shift: Monday - Friday, Daytime hours (8-hour shifts)
- Contract Duration: 14 weeks (June 9 - August 10, 2026)
- Role: Emergency Department Coder / Pediatric Coder (on-site hospital coding, hybrid eligible)

Minimum Requirements - Minimum 1 year of ED coding experience, preferably in a pediatric hospital setting
- Demonstrated pediatric coding experience (RSV, bronchiolitis, fractures/ortho reductions, laceration/wound repair, foreign body removal)
- Ability to complete a code sample as part of the application process
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistent productivity
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications - Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred
- Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding guidelines
- Experience with hospital EHRs and encoder tools (e.g., Epic, Cerner, 3M) is a plus
- Previous experience with emergency department workflows and pediatric case mix
Responsibilities - Accurately code emergency department (ED) records for pediatric patients using ICD-10-CM and CPT
- Review clinical documentation and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for pediatric case types
- Maintain hourly productivity and quality standards for hospital coding
- Ensure compliance with payer rules, coding guidelines, and hospital policies
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries
- Participate in coder audits, education, and process improvement initiatives
