Job Requirements - Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent inpatient coding certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of recent inpatient coding experience; experience with OB/NB, Transplants, and high-complexity surgical coding is a plus
- Proficiency with Epic and 3M coding systems and familiarity with DRG assignment
- Strong understanding of inpatient coding guidelines, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and payer/regulatory compliance
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Must complete and score at least 80% on the required coding assessment
Responsibilities - Perform accurate, timely inpatient medical coding across multiple specialties, including OB/NB, Transplants, surgical specialties, and extended medical stays
- Assign correct DRGs and ensure coding compliance with federal, state, and payer rules using Epic and 3M
- Collaborate with clinical teams, case management, and revenue cycle staff to resolve documentation and coding discrepancies
- Maintain productivity and quality standards (target 1.5 charts per hour) while ensuring high-quality coding accuracy
- Stay current with coding updates, ICD-10/PCS changes, and best practices in Health Information Management (HIM)
