Outpatient Coder - Radiology
Location: Texas
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $35.56 - $38.10/hr
• Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• W2, Temp-to-Hire
• Start Date: May 11, 2026
ROLE IMPACT
The Outpatient Radiology Coder ensures accurate ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding for outpatient radiology services. This role directly supports compliant billing, minimizes claim denials, and protects reimbursement integrity. Success is defined by maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher while adhering to official coding and reporting guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes based on physician documentation, diagnostic reports, and clinical records
• Review outpatient medical records for completeness and abstract data into the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) system
• Verify patient demographics, provider documentation, and discharge dispositions prior to code submission
• Collaborate with Billing, Health Information Management (HIM), and Patient Financial Services to resolve coding discrepancies
• Address coding denials, assist with corrections and appeals, and communicate with providers regarding incomplete or unclear documentation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient radiology coding experience
• Active AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) or AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) certification
CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems
• Coding reference tools and official coding guidelines
• Standard remote office technology and secure computer systems
Preferred Skills
• Experience resolving coding denials and supporting appeals
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Stable work history with at least one year in previous roles
