Required Qualifications - Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of orthopedic surgical coding experience, including spine procedures or neurosurgery-related spine coding
- Experience coding E/M services, office procedures, and CPT/HCPCS for orthopedic cases
- Strong understanding of orthopedic and spine-related surgical cases (e.g., arthrodesis, laminectomy, laminotomy, foraminotomy)
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred (Epic training required prior to start)
- Excellent communication, professionalism, punctuality, and ability to collaborate with a remote healthcare coding team
Key Responsibilities - Accurately code orthopedic surgeries and E/M services (professional fee / profee coding) including spine and general orthopedic procedures: arthrodesis, laminectomies, laminotomies, foraminotomies, neuroplasty, debridement, hip, knee, and shoulder procedures
- Maintain productivity expectations of 3-5 charts per hour while ensuring coding quality and compliance with CPT, ICD-10-CM, and payer guidelines
- Participate in Epic EMR training and attend required meetings; adapt to Epic workflows for coding and chart review
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and coding leadership to resolve documentation queries and ensure accurate professional fee coding
- Support coding audits, quality assurance initiatives, and documentation improvement efforts as needed
