Job Title: Certified Coding Specialist/ Medical Coder

Pay rate: $24.00 hr on W2

Location: Columbus 43215 OH

Duration: 12+ months

Shift Timing: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Must Have:
  • RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator
  • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist
  • CCS-P - Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based
  • CPC - Certified Professional Coder
  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Under general direction, assisting in monitoring & analyzing policies & procedures in order to organize & implement an accurate & efficient International Classification of Diseases Edition (ICD) policy & system support program.
  • Serves as medical policy resource, analyst & technical expert advisor for ICD, CPT, and HCPCS and other coding systems; incorporates relevant ICD, CPT, and HCPCS policy & guidelines of Agency on statewide basis.
  • Assisting in monitoring & analyzing ICD reports generated on agency computer systems for appropriate usage & assignment of ICD codes; assists ICD program manager with identification of applicable regulations and agency policies while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborates as needed to resolve coding discrepancies related to CPT and HCPCS coding.
Required Skills/Work Experience:
  • ICD diagnostic codes for medical diagnoses, assignments, groupings & medical treatment
  • Agency statutes, rules, policies & procedures,.

  • federal & state laws (i.e. ORC), regulations & accreditation standards (i.e. AAPC or AHIMA )
  • Claims processing data management, healthcare delivery systems & health science administration.
  • Health information systems & database management.
  • Applied statistics, (15)process analysis & outcome analysis, healthcare laws, regulations & standards.
  • ICD-9 coding for medical diagnoses, assignments & groupings.
  • Operating PC & peripheral equipment (e.g. modem, printer)
  • Use of Microsoft Office software (e.g. Windows, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Use of agency software
  • Use of office equipment (e.g. copiers & fax machines).
  • Written & oral communication

Required Education:
  • Level of education- RHIA or RHIT degree and/or CCS/CCS-P/CPC Medical Coder.
