Job Requirements / Qualifications - Minimum 1 year of inpatient coding experience required (10-15 years preferred)
- Strong coding expertise in inpatient hospital coding; working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding expected
- Auditor and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) backgrounds welcome if coding is the primary strength
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written communication skills for clear and effective documentation and educational materials
- Experience with Epic electronic health record and 3M computer-assisted coding (3M CAC) preferred
Responsibilities - Provide coding queries, education, and mentorship to inpatient coders and staff
- Conduct second-level reviews and coding audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Perform production coding as needed (typically less than 10% of time)
- Support trauma Level 1 coding initiatives and hospital-wide coding quality improvement
- Collaborate with the Education Team and CDI teams to enhance documentation, coding integrity, and reimbursement accuracy
- Develop and deliver training materials and coding education sessions for coders and clinical staff
