Job Title: Spine Surgery Coder (Remote) Contract: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Pay Rate: $28/hour Start Date: ASAP Job Description We are seeking an experienced Spine Surgery Coder for a fully remote contract-to-hire opportunity . This role focuses on coding outpatient spine procedures within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) environment. The coder will review operative reports and assign accurate CPT and ICD-10-CM codes for spinal procedures while ensuring compliance with CMS and payer guidelines. This position plays a key role in supporting revenue integrity, audit readiness, and denial prevention by ensuring spinal procedures are coded accurately and completely. The ideal candidate has strong experience coding spine surgeries, particularly within the ASC setting. Key Responsibilities Review operative reports and assign accurate CPT and ICD-10-CM codes for outpatient spine surgeries Abstract and code all billable components of spine cases Apply correct modifiers and validate procedures against ASC-approved payer code lists Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, payer guidelines, and coding standards Support audits, denial prevention, and revenue integrity initiatives Maintain strong productivity and accuracy while working independently in a remote environment Requirements 3–5 years of spine surgery coding experience Experience coding within an Outpatient ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center) environment 5+ years of CPT coding experience related to spinal procedures Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding Experience coding neurostimulator procedures strongly preferred Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred but not required Strong understanding of CMS regulations and payer coding guidelines Additional Details Fully Remote Must be located in Eastern or Central Time zones 40 hours per week within standard business hours Flexible start and end times within the workday Coding assessment required during the interview process Productivity metrics: 6 cases per hour with 95% QA accuracy If you have experience coding complex spine procedures in an ASC setting and are looking for a remote contract-to-hire opportunity , we encourage you to apply.
