We are seeking skilled and credentialed outpatient coders to join our team. Ideal candidates will possess meticulous attention to detail and a strong grasp of medical terminology. Key Responsibilities:
- Review medical records and assign codes accurately for diagnoses and procedures.
- Sequence codes according to comprehensive medical record documentation.
- Assign suitable discharge dispositions.
- Abstract and input coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
- Identify and communicate documentation enhancement opportunities and coding issues for further research and resolution.
- Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 95% while achieving designated productivity goals.
- Track continuing education credits to uphold professional certifications.
- Participate in educational meetings and in-services provided by Datavant Health.
- Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in job execution.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement-related topics.
- Exhibit a professional and efficient work ethic.
- Adhere to the standards outlined by the American Health Information Management Association's code of ethics.
- Prioritize customer service through professionalism, reliability, and a eagerness to learn.
- Effectively handle complex tasks and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:
- AHIMA certifications (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certifications (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC) are mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital or consulting environment is required.
- Expertise in various coding specialties, including Same Day Surgery, Observation, Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent time management, particularly in a remote work setting.
- Experience using computerized encoding and abstracting software is essential.
- Must successfully complete an annual Introductory HIPAA examination and other assigned assessments.
The pay range for this role is $20-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and other qualifications.
