The Health Information Management Department supports the mission and goals of Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, Levindale and Grace Medical Center by providing appropriate and timely access to health information for continuity of patient care and other authorized requests.
Key Responsibilities Following established conventions and guidelines, codes and abstractsthemedical records of inpatients.
Groups codes to determinediagnosis-relatedgroupings (DRGs-CMS and/or APR).
Codes Reviews medical records to determine the physicians' diagnosis/procedures for the patient and assigns ICD-10CM/PCS codes to those diagnoses/procedures.
Requirements Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field.
One (1) - Three (3) years of experience.
Certifications - CCS or CCA with 5+ years experience or RHIT or RHIA.
