Job Description

To support compliant revenue cycle operations, the remote, full-time New York Licensed ED Medical Coder will ensure accurate assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes for Emergency Department and outpatient services, collaborating with clinical staff and maintaining coding quality. Key responsibilities Review clinical documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for Emergency Department and outpatient services Apply E/M leveling guidelines and injection/infusion charging rules to ensure compliant coding practices Perform peer reviews and support coding quality initiatives to maintain a minimum coding accuracy rate of 98% Required qualifications Experience coding Emergency Department encounters in a hospital or health system environment Strong knowledge of Emergency Department E/M leveling methodologies and injection/infusion charging requirements Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines Ability to effectively communicate with providers regarding documentation clarification and coding queries Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is required
