Non-Clinical - Revenue Cycle - Medical Coder

Job Summary:
Seeking a skilled Medical Coder with expertise in an acute care setting to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient and emergency department cases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in coding guidelines, documentation, and industry-standard software.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
• Apply knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and Encoder tools to assign appropriate codes.
• Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, federal billing regulations, and industry standards.
• Research and resolve coding-related issues to improve accuracy and reimbursement.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to clarify documentation and coding requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, industry changes, and emerging healthcare trends.

Qualifications:

• Possess a CCS credential and experience with 3M/HDS coding applications.
• Demonstrate at least 3 years of coding experience in outpatient and ED environments.
• Possess proficiency in MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-CM, and ICD-10 coding standards.
• Hold a High School Diploma or GED; additionally, certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CCP, or related credentials are preferred.
• Exhibit strong research skills and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
• Have proficient computer skills and ability to adapt to new coding software.
