To ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement, the part-time Certified Multispecialty Coder will accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for various medical specialties while working remotely. Key responsibilities Assign appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures for multiple medical specialties, including family medicine and general surgery Review medical documentation to extract necessary information for accurate coding and resolve any ambiguities with healthcare providers Participate in coding audits and collaborate with billing teams to address coding-related denials and rejections Required qualifications Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required; additional specialty certifications preferred 3-5 years of multi-specialty coding experience, ideally in a rural healthcare environment Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software
