Job Summary: The Coder/Abstractor, CCA works with assigned coding mentor to accurately codes, sequences and abstracts inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department records according to ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines. Minimum Job Requirements: Work Experience: One year of inpatient or outpatient coding preferred. License/Registration/Certification: Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required. Certified Coding Specialist required to be obtained within 12 months of hire. Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate\'s degree in related field preferred. Skills: Knowledge of Health Information Systems practices, procedures, and guidelines. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to seek out new methods and principles to improve services. Ability to utilize verbal and written communication skills effectively.
