HYBRID: This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of any of the Mayo Clinic campuses for on-site expectations based on business needs. The HB OP Coder reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes from medical record documentation to include, but not limited to, medical diagnostic and procedural information for outpatient medical and surgical encounters on the facility claim.
Qualifications
High School diploma and 4 years Hospital Outpatient coding experience (non-Mayo) OR 4 years non-Hospital Outpatient Mayo Clinic coding experience required OR Associate's Degree and 2 years Hospital Outpatient coding experience (non-Mayo) OR 2 years non-Hospital Outpatient Mayo Clinic coding experience required Bachelor's Degree preferred. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist — Physician (CCS-P) or a coding credential of a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required. Knowledge of Hospital Outpatient coding Experience with National Correct Coding Initiative edits (NCCI), National Coverage Determinations (NCD), Local Coverage Determinations (LCD), and Outpatient coding guidelines for official coding and reporting.
