Baptist Health is hiring a Senior Coder to join our Physician Billing Office team in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time day shift opportunity. The Physician Billing Office supports accurate and compliant physician coding and billing across a variety of specialties and places of service. The Coder, Sr PB is responsible for applying appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes while ensuring compliance with established coding guidelines and state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive physician coding experience across multiple specialties, including evaluation and management, outpatient procedures, and surgical/invasive services.
Senior Coder Job Responsibilities: Apply ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT-4 codes accurately across applicable places of service, specialties, testing, procedures, and major surgeries.
Perform evaluation and management (E/M) coding in accordance with established coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Perform accurate outpatient procedural, multi-specialty, and surgical/invasive coding.
Review documentation to determine appropriate coding and ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory guidance.
Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for coding-related questions and complex coding scenarios.
Provide coding expertise related to new procedures, techniques, and specialty-specific coding requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and industry standards to support accurate and compliant physician billing.
Senior Coder PB Experience: Over 5 years of physician coding experience, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS.
3-5 years of Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding experience.
3-5 years of outpatient procedural coding experience.
1-2 years of multi-specialty coding experience.
1-2 years of surgical/invasive coding experience.
Preferred: Specialty-specific coding certification.
Senior Coder Education & Credential Requirements: High School Diploma.
Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS).
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification.
Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) or equivalent, as applicable.
Follolwing established coding guidelines and working in accordance to state and fedreal regulatory guidance, this person is responsible for correctly identifying and applying ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and CPT-4 codes for E/M across all places of service, office and specialty-specific testing/procedures, and major surgeries. Serves as subject matter expert for coding-related matters for difficult coding scenarios, new procedures or techniques. Certification Note: CPC or equivalent required.
