Job Description

To support hospital operations, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will review, abstract, and assign medical codes for inpatient cases, ensuring compliance with regulations while working remotely. Key responsibilities Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient cases, excluding the academic medical center Participate in DRG Reconciliation and analyze information for optimal reimbursement Provide coding guidance to healthcare staff and query providers for documentation clarification Required qualifications High school diploma or GED Successful completion of the UNC HCS IP Coder Proficiency Test AHIMA or AAPC certification and credential Two years of experience in hospital coding Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
