Assists with assuring all laboratory staff are properly trained in patient identification and labeling of all specimens Communication: Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers Customer Service Assists with assuring all direct reports are properly trained in AIDET and attend CARES training. When necessary, assures proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers. Answers telephone in an polite and efficient manner Employee Relations: Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees Reporting/Recordkeeping: Assists with assuring department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner Assists with monitoring and reporting of department Performance Improvement initiativesAssists with assuring all appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control Education: Coordinates training standards and schedules for all direct reports Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills Stays abreast of regulatory changes Regulation : Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues Adheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards Job Knowledge Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or related field; required ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required Minimum of 4 years laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist; required by College of American Pathologists (CAP) for supervisors of Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, and Microbiology; preferred for other Medical Technologist, Supervisor positions Valid Mississippi Drivers License and acceptable driving record/history; preferred Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel); required Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required Requirements The following are requirements in addition to any stated in the above description.
