California Licensed Health Information Coder

Job Description

To support a healthcare coding team, the temporary, fully remote California Licensed Health Information Coder III will utilize advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems to code and abstract inpatient cases in compliance with established guidelines and policies. Key responsibilities Code and abstract inpatient cases according to official coding guidelines and UCSF Health policies Ensure compliance with accuracy standards, meeting daily production requirements while maintaining a minimum 95% accuracy rate Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and encoder systems to translate clinical documentation into standardized codes Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA certification Three or more years of experience in inpatient DRG coding and abstracting Advanced proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and encoder systems Ability to pass an initial knowledge assessment with a score of 80% or higher, or demonstrate relevant coding experience with an 80% accuracy rate
