To support the inpatient coding team, the full-time Technical Coder will assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-CM-PCS procedure codes for all UPMC inpatient facilities while working remotely during daylight business hours, Monday through Friday. Key responsibilities: Code all diagnoses and procedures by assigning and verifying the proper ICD-10-CM and PCS codes based on thorough documentation review Ensure accurate sequencing of diagnoses and procedures for appropriate reimbursement under the Prospective Payment System Review coding for accuracy and completeness prior to submission, adhering to official coding guidelines and departmental policies Required qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent Completion of an AHIMA or AACP-certified Coding program or equivalent with relevant curriculum Familiarity with PCS codes is preferred Six months of hospital coding experience preferred
