Health Information Management (HIM) Inpatient Coder

Medical Coding Specialist

100% remote opportunity. Eligible remote states: District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Key responsibilities:

• Following established coding conventions and guidelines, review, code, and abstract medical records for inpatient services.
• Review medical records to identify physician-documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Group assigned codes to determine appropriate Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs), including CMS-DRGs and/or APR-DRGs.
• Ensure coding and documentation are accurate and compliant with established standards and guidelines.

Requirements:

• Formal working knowledge equivalent to an associate degree (two years of college) in a specialized field.
• Knowledge of medical coding principles, conventions, and guidelines.
• Ability to accurately review medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.

Pay range:

$22.22 to $39.12 per hour. Base pay is determined by a variety of factors, including the market range, the candidate's qualifications and experience, and internal pay equity.
