Senior Outpatient Surgery Coder

Job Description

To support accurate coding practices, the full-time remote Senior Outpatient Surgery Coder will assign CPT, ICD-10-CM codes, and modifiers for various outpatient surgical procedures while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and organizational policies. Key responsibilities Utilizes critical thinking to analyze and evaluate outpatient documentation for accurate ICD-10 and CPT-4 code assignment Monitors daily work to facilitate billing processes, maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 90% and productivity rate of at least 95% Communicates with hospital departments regarding billing and registration issues, providing timely referrals to management as needed Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent with formal ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 training 3 or more years of outpatient coding experience in a facility healthcare setting, including outpatient surgical coding Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC) Proficiency in coding and EHR software (e.g., EPIC, 3M HDM) Knowledge of NCCI edits, NCD & LCD requirements, and payer guidelines
