Job Description

To support accurate coding practices, the full-time Surgery/Anesthesia Medical Coder will assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures based on thorough documentation review, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and federal regulations. Key responsibilities Assign diagnoses and procedures by reviewing medical records and applying knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines Ensure accurate coding and sequencing for reimbursement under the Prospective Payment system, while maintaining compliance with CMS and JCAHO standards Abstract medical and demographic information from records and correct any discrepancies prior to submission to billing Required qualifications Minimum 2 years of Medical Coding experience Experience with Professional Fee Coding and EHR systems Accepted certifications from AHIMA or AAPC, such as RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC
