Job Description

To support healthcare providers, the part-time Remote Outpatient Medical Coder will review medical records and assign diagnostic and procedural codes for emergency room facility accounts, ensuring compliance with established coding principles. Key responsibilities Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures for emergency room encounters Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels and appropriate CPT codes for procedures, injections, and infusions Participate in Coding Roundtables to discuss current issues related to coding and Health Information Management Required qualifications CPC and COC coding credentials Over 3 years of experience coding Facility-HB charts, including Ancillary, Clinic, and ED Extensive knowledge of CPT coding principles and guidelines Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes A passing score on the coding proficiency test is required
