Job Description

To support accurate coding practices, the full-time Florida Licensed Inpatient Surgical Coder will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical records, ensure compliance with coding guidelines, and maintain productivity standards while working remotely. Key responsibilities Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical and procedure-based records Review documentation to validate procedural coding and ensure accurate DRG assignment Collaborate with CDI to identify documentation gaps and incorporate audit findings into coding practices Required qualifications High School diploma or equivalent 4+ years of acute care hospital coding experience, including heavy PCS coding of complex surgeries Completion of the AdventHealth inpatient surgical coding training may substitute for work experience Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and inpatient reimbursement processes
