This will involve using your knowledge of UCLA Health, AHA – Coding Clinic, and AMA – CPT Assistant guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological basis of disease, documented treatment, and procedures. You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for patients receiving our services while correctly assigning APCs for all patients to assure accurate reimbursement and the highest quality data possible. You will abstract all coded data in a timely and accurate manner into the abstracting system.Salary Range: $47.60/hourly - $62.78/hourlyJob QualificationsWe're seeking an independent, detail-oriented, self-directed individual with:Associate degree in health information science, Bachelor's degree in health information management, or completion of courses in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codingCOC, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P certification, requiredThree or more years of experience with surgical procedural and ambulatory care codingThree or more years of experience as an outpatient coder, acute care hospital experience preferredProficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS and modifier usageKnowledge of APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT AssistantCOC, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P certification, requiredAbility to orient and train new employees and studentsUnderstanding of all state and national reporting requirementsStrong communication, interpersonal, and prioritizing skillsComputer proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3M 360 Encompass softwareNote: Skills may be subject to test.
