Inpatient Coder

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder with strong AHIMA credentials and extensive inpatient coding experience in Academic/Trauma Level 1 facilities. The ideal candidate will accurately assign ICD codes, ensure coding compliance, and maintain high productivity and quality standards.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Review medical documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
  • Query physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
  • Utilize electronic encoder applications following coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform peer reviews of coding audits and coders.
  • Maintain a minimum coding accuracy of 98% while meeting productivity standards.
  • Prepare reports and ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with managers and team members while adapting to changing procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 years of overall coding experience.
  • At least 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an Academic/Trauma Level 1 facility.
  • AHIMA credential (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required.
  • Experience coding all inpatient service lines.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and work independently.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Must pass coding assessment with 80% or higher.
