Job Description

To enhance community health initiatives, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Coder will capture data from medical records for reimbursement and research, collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team, and assign ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes remotely. Key responsibilities Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes to inpatient and outpatient accounts Collaborate with CDI auditors to obtain clinical documentation that supports appropriate reimbursement Maintain work areas and operate necessary equipment while actively engaging in self-development Required qualifications Associate degree in healthcare, Health Information Technology, or Nursing (LPN or RN) Preferred graduate from Health Information Technology program Current licensure as an RN or LPN in North Carolina RHIT, RHIA, and/or CCS certification from AHIMA Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare medical coding, specifically with ICD-9 and ICD-10
