To ensure accurate coding and compliance, the full-time Senior Surgery Facility Coder will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for inpatient and ambulatory records across various specialties while working remotely. Key responsibilities Accurately determine diagnosis and procedure codes, MS-DRGs, and APCs from patient health records Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding documentation issues and validate charges against health record documentation Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations while consistently meeting coding quality and productivity standards Required qualifications High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience or an Associate's Degree with 1 year of experience in coding Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC approved coding program is preferred Certifications such as Registered Health Information Technician or Certified Coding Specialist are preferred Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding principles, and third-party reimbursement regulations Experience with concurrent coding reviews and knowledge of documentation regulations from Joint Commission and CMS
