Job Description

To support the coding needs of a healthcare facility, the full-time Certified Medical Coder III will review, abstract, and assign medical CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for professional services while ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing reimbursement in a remote work environment. Key responsibilities Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and HCPCS/CPT codes for chronic conditions and services provided Analyze coding information to ensure optimal reimbursement and compliance with coding regulations Provide guidance to healthcare staff on current coding practices and resolve coding edits as needed Required qualifications High School diploma or GED Successful completion of the UNC HCS Hospital OP Coder Proficiency Test AHIMA or AAPC certification and credential Two years of experience in hospital coding Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding systems
