To support coding needs for various medical records, the remote PRN IP Facility PCS/ICD Coder will review and assign appropriate codes for inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and hospital policies. Key responsibilities Reviews entire medical records to assign accurate CPT, ICD, and MS-DRG codes for reimbursement and compliance Abstracts essential data for quality improvement and communicates issues to management as needed Maintains up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations and participates in departmental training to enhance coding accuracy and productivity Required qualifications High school diploma or GED required Must possess one of the following coding certifications at the time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, CPC, or RHIT/RHIA with a coding credential achieved within one year One to three years of coding experience required Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with an encoder and Electronic Medical Records preferred Ability to utilize the internet and electronic resources for research purposes
