SDC Coder - Coding - Flex 0.8 (64 hrs biweekly)

Description In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Certified SDC Coder is responsible for coding the professional and facility diagnoses and procedures for OR procedures based on provider documentation. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions Assigns codes for diagnosis, treatments, and procedures according to the appropriate classification for surgical encounters and maintaining 90% quality standards. Codes charts within an appropriate number of charts per hour. Remain informed about coding issues to comply with federal regulations. Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices. Utilize time effectively. Consistently code and abstract at minimum productivity standards while ensuring accuracy of coding. Ability to code OR procedures, is also expected to assist in certified outpatient, ancillary or charge as assigned. Respond promptly to internal and external customer coding requests. Respond promptly to Business Office requests to code or review coded accounts for accuracy. Work closely with other departments to ensure all data captured is accurate. Team‑oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Qualifications Minimum Education/Experience Required: Certification of coding will be required at hire, which includes RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CCS, CPC, COC, CIC, CPC‑P, CEMC, CEDC, CEMA. Special Knowledge, Skills, Training Knowledge of coding regulations, CPT, ICD‑10‑CM, and HCPCS. CCI edits, LMRP, computer knowledge (Windows‑Based), and must be able to communicate written and orally with physicians. The ability to work independently as well as in a team. Excellent organization and problem‑solving skills and the ability to change and be flexible with work priorities. Strong attention to detail.
